Big thanks to Edmonton Mayor Amarjeet Sohi for spending time at UA Local 488’s grill during the Edmonton & District Labour Council’s annual Labour Day BBQ in Giovanni Caboto Park on September 5th. Always great to see leaders out on Labour Day, thanking folks like the members of the UA 488 for the work we do and the labour we provide both in Edmonton and beyond. We’re thankful for the strong working relationship we’re building with all levels of government to help guide our elected officials as they make decisions and policies that directly impact our membership. For those of you who receive our Pipeline Newsletter by regular mail, we would like to inform you of an error regarding the dues payment requirement date to be eligible for nomination, on page 16 of the Newsletter. The cutoff is 12:00 NOON on Friday, October 14th to have your dues up to date.

Yesterday at the RMA’s monthly luncheon, Orysia Boychuk-President of the Ukrainian-Canadian Congress of Alberta along with Lubonyr Markevych, gave thanks to the RMA and Local 488 for our recent fundraiser BBQ in support of the people of Ukraine. In total, we raised a whopping $22,982.50!! It was a touching, heartfelt thank you speech from both Orysia and Lubonyr for helping those families affected by the war in Ukraine. This is exactly the type of community support we have done for decades, and will continue to do for decades to come. Way to go RMA and UA Local 488!
