Attention Members,
Your election committee has an update and information regarding the 2022 Ballots going out this week.

Our business development team along with Alanna Marklund from UA Canada, Jason Hooper-welding examiner, as well as our RAP graduate-19 year old Journeyman B pressure welder Josh Lefebvre (!!) representing UA Local 488 at the Skills in the Heartland event this week at the DOW Center in Fort Saskatchewan. This was a great opportunity to showcase and promote the skilled trades to over 500 students from surrounding schools! Students were given a chance to try out our state-of-the-art virtual welding simulators and find out more about what the UA can offer for rewarding careers in the trades!

Please see the below list of nominees for your upcoming officers’ election for the 2023-2025 term.

Massive congratulations to our very own Tyler Hayward for winning the John Tackaberry Future Leaders Award at the Building Trades of Alberta conference yesterday! Tyler is a 3rd year HVAC apprentice with Gateway Mechanical who embodies every value the UA represents- quality, production, safety, and of course, outstanding leadership! Way to go Tyler, we are extremely proud of your accomplishment!

PLEASE NOTE: THE PENSION, HEALTH AND WELFARE DEPARTMENT WILL BE CLOSED ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2022
Local 488 made it to the big leagues! Our Local and the RMA’s incredible efforts to help those affected by the events in the Ukraine made the inside cover of the UA Journal! This is what the UA is all about! A huge thank you to the RMA, the wonderful ladies of the RMA, members and families who donated their time as well as monetary contributions to support this great cause- THANK YOU!! Well done Local 488!
