The 41st General Convention will take place from August 17 to August 21, 2026.

Official Travel Days:

  • Arrival: August 16, 2026
  • Departure: August 22, 2026

Members are responsible for booking their own airfare to and from the convention.

Please ensure travel is arranged within the official travel dates (August 16th – August 22nd, 2026).

Members may choose to stay at alternate hotels if they wish. However, full compensation from the UA will only be provided to those who book within the designated hotel block. Members who stay elsewhere may receive reduced or no compensation.

Members may also choose to arrive earlier or extend their stay beyond the convention dates. Please note that any nights booked outside of the official hotel block will be at the hotel’s regular rate.

Important:

  • Members are responsible for booking their own hotel accommodations

  • Do not book your hotel until official registration information has been provided

  • Registration details will include access to the discounted hotel block

  • Booking outside of the official hotel block may affect compensation eligibility

To receive full compensation from the UA, members must stay at the designated hotel.

Hotel rooms are secured based on final delegation numbers, and there will be sufficient availability for all approved delegates.

Additional booking details will be shared once more information has been released.

Per diem rates will be determined on the first day of the convention by the UA delegation.

  • The constitutional minimum is $150 USD per day

While the final amount cannot be confirmed in advance, market conditions will be taken into account.

All per diem amounts are set in USD and will be converted for Canadian members as applicable.

As outlined in the UA Constitution, delegates are also eligible for compensation including travel and daily expenses during the convention.

Payment timelines will be communicated soon. At this time we do not have any more information regarding expenses.

The following forms are required for delegates attending the convention.

Mandatory EFT Direct Deposit Form

All delegates who wish to receive payments by direct deposit must complete and submit the required EFT Direct Deposit Authorization Form.

This form is used to ensure timely and accurate payment of convention-related compensation and expenses.

Important:

  • The form must be completed and submitted prior to the convention
  • Forms without an attached void cheque or direct deposit form will not be accepted.
  • Incomplete or missing forms may result in delays in payment

All delegates attending the convention will be compensated at the Journeyman ICI rate for the duration of the convention.

Delegates are permitted to bring up to a MAXIMUM of two (2) guests (children included) to the convention.

Members must advise the Local in advance of any guests they intend to bring so that proper registration can be completed.

Important:

  • All guests must be registered in advance
  • Guests will have access to designated areas only
  • Guests are not permitted on the convention floor unless authorized
  • Guests will not be reimbursed for any flight expenses
  • Guests are not entitled to per diem or wage compensation

A detailed convention itinerary is not yet available.

It will be provided as soon as it becomes available.

The general dress code for the convention will be business casual for most daytime sessions and activities.

Members are also encouraged to bring formal attire for evening functions, including receptions and scheduled convention events.

Important:
Inappropriate or obscene clothing worn by delegates or guests at any time during convention-related functions will not be tolerated. Individuals may be asked to leave and return in appropriate attire.

Members who require accessibility accommodations, or who are travelling with a guest who requires accommodations, are asked to contact the Local in advance.
