Ukrainian-Canadian Congress of Alberta Gives Thanks to the RMA and Local 488
Yesterday at the RMA’s monthly luncheon, Orysia Boychuk-President of the Ukrainian-Canadian Congress of Alberta along with Lubonyr Markevych, gave thanks to the RMA and Local 488 for our recent fundraiser BBQ in support of the people of Ukraine. In total, we raised a whopping $22,982.50!! It was a touching, heartfelt thank you speech from both Orysia and Lubonyr for helping those families affected by the war in Ukraine. This is exactly the type of community support we have done for decades, and will continue to do for decades to come. Way to go RMA and UA Local 488!
The Alberta Pipe Trades College is offering the EPRI Rigging Certification Course from June 8-12, 2026, at the Local 488 Training Centre in Edmonton. Designed for experienced UA journeypersons, this advanced course provides specialized training in safe rigging practices and the skills required to work as certified rigging specialists.
Participants will gain a deeper understanding of industry best practices, safety requirements, and the complexities involved in rigging operations within industrial environments. A strong rigging background and a minimum of 3-5 years of related experience are required.

On March 14, 2026, voting will take place in person at the Local Union 488 Dispatch Hall between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The ballots will be counted on Monday, March 16, 2026, and the results will be posted on the Local Union 488 website (local488.ca) by end of day Tuesday, March 17, 2026
