Plumber students will learn to install and service plumbing systems, fixtures, piping equipment and controls for transporting water, waste, gases or hot liquids. Students will learn to prepare detailed sketches for pipe and equipment fabrication and installation, underground storm, sanitary and water piping systems and finishing work, such as installing sinks, lavatories, tubs and water closets or more specialized work lie installing water conditioners or hydronic heating and chilled water systems.
Steamfitter-Pipefitter students will learn to layout, assemble, fabricate, maintain, and repair piping systems which carry water, steam, chemicals or fuel used in heating/cooling, lubricating and other processes. Students will measure, cut, thread, groove, bend, assemble and install all types of metal, plastic fiberglass pipes, valve and fitting using blueprints and specifications.
Instructor Responsibilities:
- Prepare and present lessons, lectures, and demonstrations to students.
- Demonstrate procedures and supervise practical shop assignments.
- Prepare, administer, and grade assignments and examinations.
- Maintain student attendance, progress data and records.
- Other related duties such as development of new instructional material and maintenance of instructional equipment.
- Able to work independently and within a team environment.
- Strong knowledge of computers and digital platforms
Qualifications: - High School diploma
- Completion of the Alberta Plumber/Gasfitter journeyperson certificate and Interprovincial Red Seal(s) and a minimum 5 years journeyperson experience and/or
- Completion of the Alberta Steamfitter-Pipefitter journeyperson certificate and Interprovincial Red Seal and a minimum 5 years journeyperson experience.
- Preference will be given to candidates with previous instructional experience.
Remuneration: Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
