With this ever-changing environment the staff and management of UA Local 488 hope everyone is doing as well as can be expected in these times. It is critical for all of us to take whatever steps necessary to get through this crisis. As a way of minimizing the risk of exposure to our staff as well as members both our main office as well as our Fort McMurray office has been closed to the public since March 12th. Since that time daily meetings have been held between the management team as we assess the current situation and form a plan going forward.
We are in the process of minimizing the number of staff members in the building to reduce the chance of transmission. We are currently in the process of setting up staff members so that they will have the ability to work from home while we continue to provide service to our members.
All Business Agents & Reps will be working remotely from home by the end of the week and are available to the membership via email or phone. We are all very aware of the fact that this situation has created much uncertainty and many questions for our membership. For updates I ask members to please refer to the website as it is being updated as information becomes available.
Please know that we are all working tirelessly during this crisis and appreciate your patience as we continue to monitor this situation.
In closing I ask members to take a few minutes and ask loved ones how they’re doing and reaffirm Canada is the best country in the world, Alberta, the best province and what can be done for our safety is being done.
